Gala concert on the occasion of the “Versicherungs- und Fondsmesse Leipzig”
As most of you might know, I have been playing the violin for more than 16 years now and even if I decided not to become a professional musician, nevertheless I have a concert or a another kind of gig with several orchestras and bands once in while.
On Wednesday I was asked to play with the “Orchester Dirk Jecht”
[if you wanna have a look, shows you a tiny part of one of their events or under their homepage at http://dirk-jecht.de/]
the gala concert on the occasion of the “Versicherungs- und Fondmesse Leipzig 2009″. Some of my dear fellow students might have seen me coming to uni with my violin on hand. So what has actually happened: I came to class to partly join Mister Tomfords lecture and left early to be on the exhibition center Leipzig in time.
After a very short soundcheck, I just had the time to order my notes, get dressed and to come on stage to play. Starting with smooth dinnermusic, followed by dancemusic, the audience (obviously rich people working for insurance companies who were invited to this gala) left their tables and enjoyed dancing all night long. Outside, there was an astonishing fire/light/pyrotechnics show between several dance sessions, so we actually had a chance to get a short break and relax a bit. We played until 2 a.m. (from 8 p.m.!!!), and after packing all our stuff most of the musicians went to the hotel and tried to get some sleep. I was in bed at 3.30 a.m….
But this is not the end of the story yet. So the next morning got up at 7, convinced myself to have a tiny breakfast and went on my way back to Berlin, because I could not stand the fact missing our macroeconomics class^^on top of that, immediately after uni I had to go to work again- “Kaisers” was waiting for me..:-)To make it even worse I had to work 2,5 hours longer than I was supposed to because one of my colleagues decided not to come to work. So after all I was home at 10.30 p.m….Honestly I had the intention to write you exactly this blog on this particular evening, but I hope you will understand, I just could not be bothered to swith on my laptop any more and tell you all about these amazing, but exhausting days.
